ISST Schroth Therapist Training

Training in International Schroth Three Dimensional Scoliosis Therapy (ISST) enables physical therapists (physiotherapists) to provide conservative treatment for children, adolescents, adults with idiopathic scoliosis, adult degenerative scoliosis and kyphosis.

The primary treatment goals are: improving quality of life; improving aesthetics; avoiding surgery by preventing progression; and developing effective coping strategies for patients to improve their participation in all aspects and activities in daily living (ADL).

ISST training enables physical therapists to understand the bio-mechanical conditions of asymmetric posture, the adverse impact of asymmetric loading of the spine, and the risk of further progression.

ISST training also focuses on providing therapy for patients fitted with a brace, and pre and post surgery.

ISST Schroth Therapists learn to define their role as team players in an interdisciplinary network with physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, orthotists, psychologists, parents, and patients.

An international team of instructors lead by Axel Hennes, Senior Schroth Instructor, and a Director of the Spine Concept Sobernheim Training Institute, conduct ISST Schroth Therapists courses.
